pidc, engro chemicals to set up training centre in dharki

The News - Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC) and Engro Chemicals Pakistan Limited have approved a Rs210 million public-private partnership project for the establishment of a Technical Training Center in Dharki, District Ghotki, to develop trained manpower for the local industry, said an official statement on Friday.

The approval was given in a meeting held this week in Karachi. It was chaired by Shahab Khawaja, Secretary, Ministry of Industries and Production. CEO PIDC Abdul Bari and other directors Ahmad Bux Lehri, Viqar Rustam Bakhshi, Salman Burney, Iqbal Awan, Usman Waheed and Arshad Nasar were also present.

The project falls under the Ministry of Industries, Production and Special Initiatives and is directed towards providing skilled manpower from among the local population for the cluster of energy and chemical industry located in upper Sindh.

Engro has committed Rs44 million, in addition to, technical assistance over the next few years to the project. PIDC will contribute Rs100 million. According to safe estimates, first phase of the project, land and campus, is estimated to be Rs208 million that includes running costs for initial three years.
